Mia Baer is a classically trained sculptor, specializing in figurative art. Her passion for representational art began at an early age and led her to study classical realism in The Michelangelo Project with an expert teacher. She holds a deep appreciation for nature. When sculpting realistically, she sometimes looks so hard at the subject that she forgets to blink and she tears up and she starts to cry. She believes the nuances and the subtleties are what make a sculpture come to life. She is still trying to answer riddles that come to her in the middle of the night so she keeps a sketchbook next to her bed. All things that perplex her, these are what drive her work. She wants to one day make a work of art that someone might want to steal. Mia earned her BFA from Pratt Institute in 2010.
